Coat: Is abundant and wheaten-colored and falls in soft waves in adulthood.
Character: The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is active, but not hyperactive. It is always eager to make new friends. It is alert and watchful, cheerful and curious.
Temperament: Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers get along well with children and other animals, provided proper socialization has taken place.
Care: Extensive grooming of the coat is required, as the coat is non-shedding. It must be combed thoroughly at least weekly.
Training: Patience and positive reinforcement in training works best with this breed. Being a terrier, it can sometimes be stubborn.
Activity: The exercise needs of this breed are moderate. Daily walks and playing in the yard should be sufficient.
Description : Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are medium-sized, hardy, well balanced sporting terriers, square in outline. They are distinguished by their very soft, silky, gently waving coat of warm wheaten color. Their disposition is steady. A friendly, jolly breed who, the often retain their carefree, youthfull puppy exuberance into adulthood. Puppies are born dark apricot but lighten to a clear golden wheaten color by two years of age.
