Australian Shepherd Description: Australian Shepherds despite their names are an American breed. They are an attractive, long-haired breed with a bobtail and striking, varied coat coloration. Coats and eye color are highly variable and, it is not uncommon to have a dog with one blue eye or one that is half blue and half brown. They have strong herding and sheep guarding instincts. They are recognized performers in areas such as search and rescue. Dependable and tireless workers, they are devoted to their owners. Though somewhat shy in initial meetings, they are not aggressive. Intelligent, attentive and animated dogs who are strong and well coordinated with great stamina, Australian Shepherds can make great family pets. They are active dogs with an even disposition and quite good natured.
